The Windows Updates

The Windows Update setting offers several options for scheduling and automatically installing the updates.

Not all updates are equal. There are three different update categories: Critical, Windows, and Driver.

Critical Updates are the patches you need to fill the holes in your security.
ALWAYS install Critical Updates.

Driver Updates take some thought. I usually skip those unless I am having some trouble. I operate under the theory that if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

Windows updates are new gadgets, toys and features. Many of these updates improve how Windows supports gaming software and entertainment hardware.

Time and time again, I am surprised and dismayed to hear people cancel the Windows Update. Worse, people are afraid that the update will trash their machine. I have installed hundreds of updates. Not once did a Windows Update ruin a PC. I'm confident that the code has been tested and validated for most systems. If it does make a mistake, that's why System Restore was invented.
