The Windows Firewall
The purpose of
any Firewall is to manage the traffic that travels between my
Private LAN and the Public Internet. A Firewall can be a
hardware device, a software program, or both.
As a System
Administrator, you need to protect the local Trusted Zones
(behind the Firewall) from the Zones with no trust (outside the
Firewall). One example of a physical Firewall would be a Cable Router.
Windows
Firewall filters traffic entering or leaving your computer. The
Administrator tools in Windows Vista are basic: on or off.
