Calculate the Total
1. We need an
equation in cell G2 to add up all of our hours. All good equations start
with “=.”
Type =SUM(
into cell G2
2. Now select from A2 through F2. The formula says, =SUM(A2:F2.
Finish it off with the closed parenthesis. Finally, hit the
Enter key. Excel won’t calculate until you leave the cell.
Verify your work! Pretend we worked 8 hours on Monday, Wednesday and
Friday. Does the Total equal 24?
AutoFill the Total
Click once on cell G2 to select the formula we made for the Total.
Use the AutoFill
handle to copy the equation down to row 12.
