In the video store, there may be a spreadsheet for
videos and another list for customers. Data can be sorted,
filtered,
subtotaled and
pivoted.
How do you connect the spreadsheets? Do you create a
third spreadsheet that looks up the movie in one column and the
customer who rented it in a second column? This might work with a
handful of items. It would be very cumbersome with the thousands and
thousands of movies and customers.
A database is the best tool for creating a
relationship between lists or catalogs. |
