The United States
Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Migration and Refugee
Services (MRS), holds a contract from the federal government to
help refugee and undocumented alien children as they resettle in
the United States. This is called the reunification process, as
it reunites children with members of their family in most cases.
The work is done by Catholic Charities around the country. MRS
supervises and coordinates the local agencies.
In developing online training for the agency case managers, both
the MRS staff and our team wanted to make sure we kept the
children and their needs as the central focus of the e-learning.
We felt we needed some way to get learners interested in the
material and make an emotional connection to their work.
We decided to create an animation
that gives an overview of the purpose of the reunification
process, emphasizing the needs of the children.
