The Visual Lesson Study website was designed as part of a pilot
program for teacher Professional Development. Based on the
Japanese lesson study model, the project allowed teachers to
view video segments from the classroom implementation of a
lesson in Economics. The unit focused on an exploration of the
California power crisis and the Enron Corporation’s involvement.
We edited classroom footage to
include a searchable text track and delivered the segments on a
web page. The teachers involved in the study were able to easily
navigate and review their peers’ teaching and then engage them
in discussion.
