There are only three parts to a spreadsheet:

Data

Formulas

 

1. Start with the labels

Click on cell A1 and type: April

Tab across to B1 and type: May

 

Working with Labels

Click on Cell A1

Type: March.

Did Excel overtype the text?

 

Format options on the Home Ribbon

Try it: make the text big, bold and blue. Formatting text in a spreadsheet is very much like formatting text in Microsoft Word.
