Installing and Detecting
The drive is
screwed to the rails in the case. Now, you need to attach the 40-pin
interface cable to the 40-pin connector on the back of the hard drive.
You need to match the pin for socket 1 on the cable to the same pin on the
hard drive. Look for the colored line on one side of the cable.
Now,
plug in the power supply. This connector also has a go-no go design.
Look carefully and you’ll see how it fits together.
Detecting the Drive in BIOS
Once hard drive has been installed the
computer has to know it exists. Hard drive are identified in the BIOS
on the Motherboard. When you turn on the computer,
you’ll see some instructions about how to get into BIOS. With
some computers, you need to hit the Delete key on the keyboard. With
others, it may be Control +Alt+Delete. Your PC will give you the
instructions on your screen.
When you get
to the BIOS setup there should be an option for Hard Drive Detection. The BIOS will detect both hard drives.
Save and exit the
BIOS.
