Create a General Ledger

1. Enter the Labels

Let’s begin by putting in the labels for a checkbook ledger. Enter the following:
In cell A1: Check Number
In cell B1: Date
In cell C1: Description

In cell D1: Check
In cell E1: Deposit
In cell F1: Balance

Select Row 1 go to the Home Ribbon to make the labels Bold.

2. Format the Numbers

Select Column B

Go to the Home Ribbon

Look for the Number group

Go to Accounting ->Short Date

Select Columns D, E and F

Go to Accounting ->Currency
