If you Fill Down this equation, you may not get the results that you wanted. The equation, as it is written, uses relative references.

 

When you Fill Down, the reference to the Average in Cell D5 may change, too. The next equation would be =IF(D5>D6, "Above", "Below"), which is "Above" because D6 is an empty cell.

 

For practice, repeat this function with Cells E5 and E6. Use Fx, the Insert Function wizard to create the Logical equation in Cell E3 and Cell E4.
