Beam Me Up, Scotty
It is an unwritten law that computers know when you
are far, far away from home. You're on the road, sitting in a
strange room, getting ready for the big presentation. Sometimes, you
just want some support from the home office.
Windows XP and Windows Vista have a method for asking
someone to help you. The program is called Windows Remote
Assistance, and it allows you invite someone in another place,
another town, to work on your computer.
How do you begin?
Your computer needs to function enough to wake up and
access the Internet. You will also need an email program or Instant
Messenger.
Memo to Self: If you would
like to practice this option, you will need to partner with someone
who has Windows XP or Windows Vista.
