Start the Search

When you save a file you give it a name, and a location.

Try it: Search by name.

This lesson illustrates looking for a document with the word, "bird" in the file name. You may or may not have anything like that on your computer.

When you type in a Search word, Windows Vista will look for anything that has those letters in the name. It does not matter if there are additional letters before or after in the file name.

Search Everywhere

The default Search location is your computer, including your documents, pictures, and music folders.
