Virtual Memory
Computers need
a lot of memory (RAM). Programs with graphics and animation may need
more memory than you physically have in your computer.
What happens when you do not have enough?
Windows sets
aside a portion of your hard drive to be Virtual Memory. Another
name for this Virtual Memory is paging file. By default, Windows
Vista provides Virtual Memory to improve the performance of your
programs.
If your
computer was designed to be a server, then the memory would be given to
the background services that a server does: file and print sharing.
This lesson
discussed the options for video problems and
performance.
It’s not as
intimidating as it looks. I’ve been there…and I’ll be here for you.
When
it all gets too frustrating, repeat after me: I AM the
administrator.
