Power Spikes
Power spikes can be trapped with a surge strip. If the
power jumps too high for sensitive equipment, the surge
strip blows a fuse, protecting the electronics plugged into it.
Surge strips are the best insurance for your hardware. A small
$20.00 investment can safeguard thousands of dollars of PCs and
printers. Good strips also let you plug in a phone line, too.
Remember, lightning can pounce through the phone line and zap your
modem, and your motherboard!
Most surge strips have a “ready”
light. If the light is steady, then the fuse is intact. If the light
is flashing, the fuse is blown and the strip is no longer
defending your system.
