Black Outs
Computers run on electricity. They draw current from
the local wall socket and use that energy for work, games, and
communication. Generally, the power running in American and Canadian
circuits is 120 volts 60HZ. The rest of the world runs at 220/240
50HZ.
However, commercial power is not
a constant source. The voltage can vary depending on demand,
weather, and critters on the lines. When the output is too low, you
see a brown-out. The lights are dim and the computer faults,
reboots, or just shuts down.
