Take Control: Sound Properties Page 1 2 3 4 5

Turn It On

Windows Vista uses sound for a rich, entertaining environment. Where are the controls and settings for the sounds and media players?

Try it: Go to the Control Panel.

Select Hardware and Sound.

The Sound properties are listed on the hardware page.

Adjust system volume is a simple control that differentiates media sounds (CDs, DVDs) from Windows sounds (New mail, critical alert).

This is the same mixer control that opens from the Sound icon by the system clock.
