Wait for the Beep
If there
is a failure during the POST test, you will hear a series of beeps.
Fatal Errors bring the computer to a halt. Non-fatal errors may send
a message to the screen but will allow the system to boot up
anyways.
A single
beep means the memory refresh circuit on the motherboard failed.
Five beeps means the CPU failed. Ouch! Obviously, these are Fatal
errors.
A single long beep means the POST test passed successfully.
(Not all beeps are bad!)
