Format the Paragraph

The amount of space between the lines of text is technically called leading in the print business. It refers to way back when type was blocks of wood or metal placed into a key frame. The type was separated by rows of thin, lead bar: the leading. In Microsoft Word the leading is called Line Spacing.

Increase the Line Spacing

Place your cursor before the M of Michigan

Click ENTER on the keyboard to force a new line. Now you have two lines of type.

Select both lines of type by dragging the mouse over the text.

Click Line Spacing and try different sizes.
