Finishing the Boot Sequence. So, we have
BIOS, CPU and RAM. Now, several things are displayed at once: your hard
drive, DVD/CD-ROM and anything else plugged into the motherboard.
From here, the operating system takes over. If you are
on Windows 98 or ME, your computer starts MS-DOS, then launches
Windows. If you are on the business operating system—Windows NT, Windows
2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista—the NT boot loader takes over.
No magic, no mystery, really. A computer is an
appliance with a few components in it.
As we build the ultimate computer for the Sandbox, remember: you get
what you pay for. If you build your car with junk—that’s all you will
have. Right? Can’t make a Cadillac with mismatched parts bought at the Gibraltar
trade show. Ask yourself, if a good computer costs around $2,000, what
did they leave out of the ones that cost less than $350? Quality.
Quality is worth the price.
That’s all from the Sandbox,
where only the latest and greatest survive!
