All Work and No Play?
Alright,
let’s talk about computer games. Mama thinks gaming machines are
money pits, but the guys in the lab are hard-core gamers. To them,
the gaming machines push the limits of current technology hence,
they are “testing computers.” Gaming software is on the bleeding
edge of computer development. These games push the hardware and
operating system to the outer limits of performance.
Good Gamers must be willing to get under the hood with all the
greasy stuff. Gamers learn to grapple with the video settings,
troubleshoot network settings, and debug software errors.
The big
kids say that before a game is released, the software programmers
are already writing the code to fix it. That’s probably true.
